how about it? Koki's question is very relevant? Will you release your work to the community? (TYPO3 Extension Repository)

You might want to look at HyperOffice, <a href="http://www.hyperoffice.com/sharepoint-alternative/" rel="nofollow">a web based alternative to SharePoint</a>, which brings most of SP features like workspaces, document management, wikis, forums, polls. Very robust solution, and scaleable to 1000 seat ranges.

Yup, it was good to see Srijan being run along Semler-style lines, and flabbergasting to see how Rahul managed to drive the process in a fair way considering how insane Delhi can be.

The Dutch are big on something called the "poldermodel" which is a sort of talk-things-through-till-our-ears-fall-off element of this approach.

IMHO, YMMV,

I agree with your perception of the benefits of having a life coach. Having an objective pair of eyes on us looking for ways to assist us to move to the next level is crucial to function at our best over time.
I believe it was Einstein who said you can not solve a problem with the same level of thinking that got you there. Seeking the counsel of people wiser than us and staying flexible enough to receive it puts a man ahead of those too vain or frightened to risk the assessment of an honest coach.
It says much for you that you were able to attract the counsel of another who is successful in the business of coaching others for their success.

Hi Rahul, Ritesh, Hariprasad and other collegues!

This is very nice. I sure will recommend anyone who need a outsourcing partner for TYPO3 or other open-source projects to work with your company.

Nice regards from the Netherlands

Hi,

I think the main problem is mentioned on page 6: "Drupal themers are good coders".

Are they? :) I think to write a template in PHP is not more or less difficult then to write a template in TS for a non-coding screendesigner. :)

Thanks for your comment "my name".

We're (and I am) a little bit different you see. I approved your comment; and I am not going to delete this post, even though the person who said this, ran away, without notice.

I think it was the person's weakness, and he took the problems with him - I wish the best for him and hope he has the best of life; yet I know that challenges one does not face and counter, chase you in other situations and circumstances in life.

It's not about living in a fantasy, but about pursuing one's vision. I envision a company where people love working on what they do, each day, day-in and day-out. I envision a company where people have fun, and learn like they would nowhere else - technical stuff and responsibility; where people are treated and expected to behave like mature adults (and not children who are given tasks to do, not given enough opportunity of expressing disagreement, not given enough opportunity of growth, and are finally judged on that in perhaps 95% of the world's companies). I envision a company which is employee-run, and perhaps employee-owned as well.

These are worthwhile dreams to pursue, if we want to have a world which is not sitting on powder-keg and blows up like it is now (economically, for now). I am not the one to get deterred by acts of immaturity by this person, or the others who left during the same time, or those who gave me long-pieces of advise on email how messed up my thought process was. Some of them are shocked that I still maintain a good relationship with them, while some others who left, later, want to join back.

I will keep this post and your comments to show our maturity and human relationship skills; we're a mature set of people, and like to deal with people and companies maturely.

We've had our problems in management, and being 'tough on tasks'; we've learnt some things from the crisis, which is now behind us, and are doing much better with a much higher level of project delivery, and people relationships. We also have a much stronger set of people who are much more committed to Srijan and to each other now.

Hi,

Now I hope you must have learned that was this saying truly from heart of that person or not, had it been from heart then if he had not posted a detailed blog than at least a conscientious person would expect him not flee away as he did.

Better I would suggest remove this post at all, since for those it is good who don't know the fact like person whose comments are up there, but what about those who know how that person fled away, in fact I am true in my saying that seeing this post showed me how you lack sincerity and how you live in your heavenly thought/ fantasies.

Sorry if I hurt you.
And I know this comment you will not publish at all

This is great, but the replacement patterns don't take into account the possibility of extra spaces added inside tags. Something like this will catch more cases:

$search = array(
'@<\s*script[^>]*?>.*?<\s*/\s*script\s*>@si', // Strip out javascript
'@<\s*[\/\!]*?[^<>]*?>@si', // Strip out HTML tags

'@<![\s\S]*?–[ \t\n\r]*>@' // Strip multi-line comments

Sure, no problem. Let me know how things go.

Yes, I do have an OpenMoko (where did you see that I did?), and try to do things with it from time to time. However, thus far it has largely been a toy, and we have not done serious work with it. Hope to change that soon.

Dear Dusan, Ben,

I just retried the above instructions on Ubuntu 8.10 with a Holux M-241 device, and they worked. Just go ahead and create /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf if it does not exist.

If it still does not work for you, please let me know what GPS device you are using, and what error messages you see.

Regards,
Gora

BTW, what Apache Solr use are you thinking of? We feel, where there is a large amount of Meta content Solr would be the best option to go for. We seem to feel, Lawyers, Libraries, Museums, Stock Photo portals and shops, Advertising agencies for their photo archival - these would be useful target markets for Apache Solr use.

Hello Andrej,

Yes, we're currently working on a very extensive and rather beautiful use of Apache Solr with TYPO3. It's for the Bible Socities, and so the searches are across, free text, special keywords with definitions, Verses, Chapters, and so on. Very interesting use of Solr. Somewhat initial stages at the moment. We plan to release a base extension approximately in 2 weeks for first responses from the community.

Let's connect then. Meanwhile, you can already see Apache Solr in use for one of our large Drupal projects at: http://www.indiaenvironmentportal.org.in/search/apachesolr_search/.

You may want to read a case study at: http://blogs.srijan.in/2008/10/10/india-environment-portal-a-case-study/

Hey Gora,

The only thing that kept me from upgrading to 8.10 is the fact that bluetooth is broken. I have read reports that this only seems to be fixed in the most recent jaunty alpha4.

I am following this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6691648#post6691648

It looks I will skip Intrepid alltogether. I have it running on my eeepc with gnome perfectly though (no bluetooth).

Hi Dusan,

It seems that the Bluetooth stuff in Ubuntu 8.10 has changed, and everything is now done through the bluetooth-applet in bluez-gnome. Will check up on this tomorrow (when I can get hold of a Bluetooth GPS unit) and update this.

Yeah the presentation surely needs some brushing up.

TYPO3 does allow for near plug and play if the templates are consistent, but it's also a fact that not too many contributed themes/templates exist for TYPO3 whereas drupal.org has a list of close to <a href="http://www.drupal.org/project/themes/" rel="nofollow">four hundred themes </a>. Given this empirical evidence I conclude that Drupal themes are more portable :). And more flexible too. Drupal allows users to make a whole lot of changes (colors, logos, etc.) to the installed theme without much fuss through a simple form, if the theme developer has implemented the necessary interfaces.

I would disagree that TV templates are purely HTML and CSS based, we need a lot of TypoScript as well. And the TV mapping, and TS etc., also require a careful understanding of the underlying concepts COs etc. But from Srijan's perspective, people investing time to learn PHP is far beneficial in the long run since we are primarily a bunch of developers.

With Drupal one can create a derivative of an existing theme, this is what I refer to as sub-theming, and it's a really powerful feature. I can, for example, take a contributed theme and change specific aspects (how a particular node or content element is rendered etc.) of it by overriding them in my sub-theme.

The purpose of this presentation is not to discredit TYPO3 in any way, it's about things which I feel are better. TV/TS does attempt to provide the ideal solution of keeping the designer/themer away from PHP, but in the process it adds certain layers of abstractions which don't appeal to me. Though at the same time it might be working wonders for others, the point isn't to show that templating in TYPO3 doesn't work. So perhaps the bias isn't that unfair.

Well, I would not agree to some points. Portability is not a problem at all in TYPO3 (use export/import, very easy). Subthemes exist in TYPO3 if you mean different templates for different pages. TS is difficult, yes, but PHP is even more difficult for designers. So everything depends on your views.

Thank you for the comparison presentation. I'd suggest adding some headers to your Drupal and TYPO3 columns.

A few concerns.

An item that seems to be missing is the fact that TYPO3's TemplaVoila templating engine allows for near plug and play when swapping templates if they're consistent. Take a look at the Web Empowered Church template series. You can move between nearly two dozen templates without effort.

Another item that seems to be missing is that a TemplaVoila template can be completely HTML and CSS based. That's all what design needs to be worrying about.

For the Drupal sub-templates, that's something you can recreate quite readily also with the TVs Flexible Content Elements which will let you create the sub-templates from a normal template.

Considering Srijan is a TYPO3 provider as well, the bias seems quite unfair.

Dmitry has put up some more tips here: http://typo3bloke.net/post-details/eight_performance_tips_for_your_typo3_web_site/

It seems the author might have had a look at that already ;-)

Anyway I might suggest you use MnoGoSearch as a replacement for Indexed Search. Dmitry (and me testing) have been working hard to get MnoGoSearch straight. We are already using it on several sites of which most are dutch unfortunately. On http://www.tackhead.com we have got it running with fuzzy search, which delivers play, playing etc when searching for play. One of the todo's there are advanced search options and intagration of fe_users. We are very enthousiastic about MnoGoSearch as it is very powerful and fast.

Hi Ravi,

Apart from first two point, you can try the other three as they are independent of the CMS you use.

I will also try optimisation settings with the Drupal and will post my test cases.

Hi Apprentice,

i : it is letters in the pattern match both upper and lower case letters.

s: This is a dot metacharacter in the pattern matches all characters, including newlines. Without it, newlines are excluded. This modifier is equivalent to Perl's /s modifier. A negative class such as [^a] always matches a newline character, independent of the setting of this modifier .

U: This modifier inverts the "greediness" of the quantifiers so that they are not greedy by default, but become greedy if followed by "?". It is not compatible with Perl. It can also be set by a (?U)

More pattern modifiers can can be checked out at http://www.php.net/manual/en/reference.pcre.pattern.modifiers.php

Cheers
